Giving Back

Serving the Community as ONE

“When we started as RHT Law, we had our CSR firmly in sight as we always wanted our firm to be one of purpose and giving back to society was a paramount tenet.” – Tan Chong Huat, Chairman of RHT Group of Companies and Chairman (2015-2022) of ONERHT Foundation.

Established in 2015, ONERHT Foundation enables ONERHT to do right and do good through various charitable endeavours in Singapore and the region.

The Foundation seeks to establish a strong philanthropic culture in our business community based on our belief that success and profitability are intertwined with the sustained prosperity and the heal of the community we serve.

Since its inception, the Foundation has raised more than S$4 million to support more than 25 beneficiaries involved in education, the environment and sustainability, disadvantaged groups, as well as the arts and sports.

Our Causes

We successfully hosted our third annual RHT Rajan Menon Foundation charity golf on 26 May 2017 at the Singapore Island Country Club. More than S$260,000 was raised for our beneficiaries – The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, Singapore Management University Pro Bono Centre, Singapore Red Cross Society and National Gallery Singapore. Senior Minister of State Ms Sim Ann was the Guest-of-Honour and Lexus was the Hole-in-One car sponsor. The charity golf was featured in the 26 May 2017 edition of The Straits Times.

We seek to improve the lives of the disadvantaged and vulnerable in Singapore through a meaningful and holistic approach which includes grants, volunteer work and outreach programmes. Some of the beneficiaries we have supported include Children’s Cancer Foundation, Red Cross Home for the Disabled, Singapore Red Cross, The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, and TOUCH Young Arrows.

The Foundation supports the protection of our environment to provide a sustainable ecosystem for future generations to thrive in. We have taken a corporate pledge for a “No Shark Fin Dining Policy” and also encourage staff to reduce their carbon footprints in the office by promoting the 3Rs- reduce, reuse and recycle. We support charities such as Nature society in their various programmes on conservation and key initiatives around Climate Change, Forests, Responsible Seafood and Illegal Wildlife Trade.

Greening ASEAN: Initiatives and Leadership (GAIL)

GREENING ASEAN: INITIATIVES & LEADERSHIP (GAIL) will facilitate relevant expertise, knowledge and practical measures so that Asian companies gain the confidence and capabilities to embed and grow sustainability into their business models.

Taking on this approach to leadership and decision making, and to champion sustainability as a future in practice, we invite all our colleagues by means of taking our first steps, which is the least we can do, to balance the needs of current generations, the needs of future generations and the health of our natural environment and planet.

The arts encapsulates the soul of our heritage. It allows bridges to be built between cultures and promotes a vibrant social community. The Foundation is proud to support National Gallery Singapore as one of our beneficiaries.

ARHTPHIL is a project initiated by RHTLaw to unite Art and Philanthropy into a cohesive, compelling and credible proposition.

ARHTPHIL will benefit the following stakeholders:

  • Insurers
  • Banks
  • Public
  • Collectors
  • Museums

In summary, ARHTPhil will facilitate more collectors to monetise their art and, as a result, more of such works to be exhibited for public enjoyment.

ARHTPhil will achieve this by encouraging banks to custodise art received as collateral with a museum instead of locking it up in a vault. This means that museums will act as custodians. RHTLaw Asia is engaging insurers to provide innovative risk management solutions to enhance the banks’ collateral and to mitigate risks.
