RHT Rajan Menon Foundation’s RHT G.R.A.C.E. Institute launched to encourage ethical leadership

The RHT G.R.A.C.E. Institute will drive change through its digital platform – the “ethBe” app

Singapore, 5 November 2020 – RHT G.R.A.C.E. Institute, a social enterprise under RHT Rajan Menon Foundation (“Foundation”), was officially launched at a virtual forum held today. The RHT G.R.A.C.E. Institute aims to promote an organisational culture anchored on the five core principles of Governance, Risk Management, Anti-money laundering, Compliance and Ethics.

During his address, Guest-of-Honour Mr Edwin Tong SC, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Law, highlighted the importance of the five G.R.A.C.E. principles to enable growth, attract customers and investors, as well as protect jobs and lives of people.

He added that the Singapore government has put in place policies, rules and regulations to support the growth of business while protecting their stakeholders.

During his opening speech, Mr Chew Heng Ching, Chairman of RHT G.R.A.C.E. Institute, said, “Today’s launch marks the beginning of a long journey to promote a culture built on the G.R.A.C.E. principles of Governance, Risk Management, Anti-money laundering, Compliance and Ethics. With your support, we are confident that the RHT G.R.A.C.E. Institute will grow as a force in years to come.”

Ms Kaylee Kwok, Deputy Chairman of RHT Rajan Menon Foundation, said, “The Foundation has embarked on many charitable endeavours since it was established in 2015, supporting various beneficiaries involved in education, the environment, disadvantaged groups as well as the arts and sports. Given the Foundation’s aim to encourage the right philanthropic culture among the corporate and legal fraternity, it is only natural for the Foundation to advocate and promote the five G.R.A.C.E. principles amongst corporates, PMETs and other stakeholders.”

“Having identified the five G.R.A.C.E. principles as key enablers of sustainable growth, the Foundation set out to establish RHT G.R.A.C.E. Institute to raise awareness on the importance of these principles,” she added.

Commenting on the ethBe app, Ms Kwok, who also serves as a Board Director of RHT G.R.A.C.E. Institute, said, “With the increasing adoption of digital technology both in the workplace and at home, RHT G.R.A.C.E. Institute has developed an app named “ethBe”, as in be ethical, to build an online ecosystem which will connect like-minded leaders and professionals. It is envisioned that the app will offer memberships powered by blockchain technology to facilitate sharing and learning of best practices.”

“We would like to thank Minister Edwin Tong SC for sharing his insights with us at the forum today,” she added.

The ethBe app, available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, functions as a platform to offer certifications, networking, community advice, events and partnerships relating to trending business and corporate issues surrounding the G.R.A.C.E. principles.

Also present at the event was Mr Richard R. Magnus, Chairman of Temasek Foundation Cares, who presented the keynote address as well as a panel of experts who discussed ethics in the US Presidential Elections.
