CEO of RHT Fintech Holdings, Jayaprakash Jagateesan shares that we need to look at the minimum requirements for dormitory operators and impose greater penalties for those who flout regulations. Regular checks on their living conditions and lowering the maximum density is crucial to improve their living standards. These measures will no doubt increase cost and may be passed on to consumers however, it outweighs the cost of disruption that follows in the recent outbreak in dormitories. Singapore will still be in need of manual labour and it is important to look at the long-term solutions on the well-being of our foreign worker community.
